And that's what Jimmy Gobble did as he led the Royals to a 16-0 shutout victory over the White Sox.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," the Chicago (A) manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
Gobble yielded 2 hits and had 13 strikeouts and 2 walks in a standout performance.
In 31 starts this year Gobble has recorded a 18-4 record and a 3.38 ERA. |  | Thursday, September 18th, 2008: Blanton Chisels Gem, Holds Chicago (A) Scoreless "He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said the Chicago (A) manager after watching Joe Blanton of the Oakland Athletics humiliate his club 4-0 in a fine 3-hit shutout.
"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Blanton said after he befuddled the White Sox. "I was making good pitches the entire game."
He whiffed 8 and walked 1 in the complete game effort.
In the 2008 season Blanton has recorded a 10-14 mark. The Seattle pitcher put quite a spell on Chicago (A) in a strong performance.
"I had a lot of good things working in this one," Batista said. "I worked both sides of the plate. I was rarely behind in the count."
