Sunday, March 22nd, 2009: Major Injury Threatens Cravy's Career
The expression on his face said it all when shortstop Dale Cravy was injured in a game against Florida. You could tell that this was no minor injury. Cravy was examined quickly by the team doctor and immediately rushed to the local hospital. After several tests, the diagnosis was blurred vision, and in this case, it means his career is over.

The San Francisco Giants issued the following statement:

"It is with great sadness to see Dale leave the game so soon. He was a great competitor and teammate and we are sure he will stick around in some capacity with our team."

Monday, March 9th, 2009: Injury Takes Toll, Cabrera Out 2 Weeks
The San Francisco Giants were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Asdrubal Cabrera was likely to be out for 2 weeks after he injured himself colliding with a player at a base in today's game against the Houston Astros. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be a strained rib cage muscle. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the San Francisco manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries, they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Asdrubal is back in action."

Thursday, November 6th, 2008: NL Best Newcomer Named
The National League Rookie of the Year Award has been given to Asdrubal Cabrera of the San Francisco Giants.

In the 2008 season he played in 145 games, recording a .323 batting average with 13 home runs, 62 RBIs and 103 runs scored.

For his fine performance the SBWA today chose him as the NL's #1 newcomer in 2008 and will present his trophy to him this weekend at its annual awards dinner.
