Monday, March 16th, 2009: Medic! Mike Gonzalez Suffers Injury
After the end of today's game between Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, Mike Gonzalez skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Pirates had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The closer will miss at least 1-2 weeks with a tender shoulder.

Saturday, October 4th, 2008: SP Maholm Re-Signs with Pittsburgh for $5,300,000
Flanked by team officials, and his agent, Paul Maholm announced that he'd agreed to terms with the Pirates earlier today.

Officials declined to specify a salary publicly, but in private say the figure is $2,650,000 per year.

Checking out his stats for the year, Maholm has racked up 18 wins and 15 losses in 43 starts, 3.16 ERA and struck out 240 batters in 265 innings.

Saturday, October 4th, 2008: Miller Happy to Stay with Pittsburgh
Adam Miller and Pittsburgh officials have reached an agreement keeping the 23-year-old starting pitcher around another 2 years.

Though terms were not confirmed, insiders tell SION that Miller re-signed for $2,580,000 per year.
