| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 30th, 2008: Big Day with Bat, Teixeira 5-5 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Texas's Mark Teixeira had a very special day against the Athletics when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Texas Rangers to a 17-3 win at Ameriquest Field in Arlington.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Teixeira said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
M. Teixeira singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off A. Embree in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Duchscherer in the 8th.
This year Teixeira is batting .295 with 182 hits, 40 home runs, 137 RBIs, 98 walks, .395 OBP and has scored 115 runs. | | Tuesday, September 30th, 2008: Morrissey Bashes 5 Base Hits It seemed that Texas third baseman Adam Morrissey could do no wrong as the Rangers kayoed the Athletics 17-3 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Oakland pitchers couldn't get him out as Morrissey seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.
"I think the Rangers were stealing signs." growled one unhappy Oakland fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play." exclaimed the jubilant Morrissey in the postgame press interview.
A. Morrissey struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the year Morrissey is batting .297 with 60 hits, 15 doubles, 4 triples and 4 home runs. He has 2 stolen bases, scored 29 runs and driven in 20. | | Sunday, September 21st, 2008: Rangers Win, Shut Out Athletics The Oakland Athletics struggled at the plate today against Rangers hurler John Danks, who shackled them on 2 hits while hurling a complete game 6-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Athletics skipper in his postgame comments.
"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Danks finished the game with 8 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," his manager said. "John made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
This year Danks has compiled a 10-10 mark with a 3.03 ERA in 24 starts. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
